Maria do Carmo Tavares

General Manager, Portugal

Maria do Carmo Tavares was appointed General Manager, Portugal in 2023 and joined the Unilabs Executive Leadership Team in May 2025.

Maria do Carmo has been with Unilabs since 2007, initially joining as Chief Financial Officer, Portugal. She has played a key role in the company’s growth in the market, leading several strategic acquisitions and integration processes that helped shape Unilabs’ presence. With a strategic vision and a results-driven approach, she has guided teams through major transformations to position Unilabs as the leader in diagnostics in Portugal - across clinical analyses, imaging, cardiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, and genetics.

Before joining Unilabs, Maria do Carmo began her career at Arthur Andersen (now Deloitte), working in auditing and financial consulting.

She holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in 2023.
